Bono Mack Calls Google Reps Back to Capitol

Renewed concerns about user information being collected is putting Google in the hot seat for second time in 12 months.

Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack (R-Palm Springs) is calling on Google to explain recently published reports claiming that the internet giant is tracking iPhone users.

Bono Mack is the Chairman of the House Committee on Commerce, Manfacturing and Trade.    As part of a statement, she said “Google has some tough new questions to answer in the wake of the latest privacy flap, and that’s why I am asking them to come in for another briefing.”

Google and Apple both had representatives testify in Congressional hearings in May 2011 regarding information being collected from “smart phones” showing users locations.

“Even if unintentional, as the company clams, these types of incidents continue to create consumer concerns about how their personal information is used and shared,” the Congresswoman said.
