Bono Mack: No to Whitewater River Trail Project

The desert's Congresswoman says spending $53 million dollars for a greenbelt along the wash isn't effective.

Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack (R-Palm Springs) is questioning local authorities on whether the proposed $80 million dollar Whitewater River Trail is the best use of $53 million in regional air quality funds.   

The proposed trail, which has the approval of Riverside County Supervisor John Benoit, would create a 54-mile greenbelt and paved path along the wash from Desert Hot Springs, through Palm Desert, to Coachella.
