Bump and Grind Compromise Reached
Amended bill to partially reopen Upper Bump and Grind now goes to the Legislature
Lawmakers and Fish and Game Officials came to a compromise that would only close the upper portion of the Bump and Grind trail over Palm Desert for three months during lambing season for the Peninsular Bighorn sheep.
Assemblymen Brian Nestande (R-Palm Desert) and Manuel Perez (D-Coachella) were pushing for year-round access the to highest portions of the trail via Assembly Bill 880. The compromise will amend the bill to allow closure of the upper portion from February through April.
