Caltrans District 8 Director Ray Wolfe will be among the participants in a public forum put on by two Coachella Valley lawmakers next month about a monster traffic jam that spanned from Banning to Palm Springs.
Assemblymen Brian Nestande, R-Palm Desert, and Manuel Perez, D-Coachella, will host host the Thursday, March 8 forum from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Rancho Mirage Public Library.
The forum, which will also include representatives from the California Highway Patrol, will focus on the massive traffic jam caused by a breakdown at a local concrete plant, which spurred unannounced lane closures in Banning.
The traffic jam, which caught up to 19,000 vehicles at one time, .
Wolfe, who has already apologized for the unplanned delays, will be "addressing the public on the current investigation and what measures are being taken to ensure this type of situation does not occur in the future on any state highways in Riverside and San Bernardino area," according to a news release.
