Ceremony To Close Palm Desert Roadway
The Portola Bridge will be dedicated in honor of Richard S. Kelly, who died in 2010 while serving his 28th year on the City Council.
A Palm Desert roadway will be closed this morning during a ceremony dedicating the Portola Bridge in honor of a former councilmember.
Portola Avenue between Magnesia Falls Drive and Hovley Lane East will be closed to traffic in both directions from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for the ceremony, which will recognize Richard S. Kelly, who died in 2010 while serving his 28th year on the City Council.
Kelly advocated for the Portola Bridge’s construction over the Whitewater River, which often floods during rain storms.
