Palm Desert is donating $10,000 to the President's Fund at California State University, San Bernardino in honor of the retiring university president, a city spokesman said today.
Mayor Robert Spiegel will present the check to outgoing president Albert
Karnig and other university officials Thursday. Karnig is retiring at the end
of the current school year after serving as Cal State San Bernardino's
president for 15 years, Palm Desert city spokesman David Hermann said.
The Palm Desert City Council set aside the $10,000 from the city's
General Fund Community Contingency Fund at their May 10 meeting, Hermann said.
Karnig presided over the development of Cal State San Bernardino's Palm
Desert campus, Hermann said.
