City Hopes to Speed Up Permit Process

Palm Desert's "Quick Permit Service Center" looks to help issue permits in a single visit.

The City of Palm Desert is hoping to speed up the permit process for homeowners and contractors with the opening of it's Quick Permit Service Center, inside City Hall.

According to City Spokesman David Hermann, the center "provides an easy, one stop option for help with the review of development projects, building plans, answers to inspections questions, as well as on-the-spot permitting for a variety of projects."

The Quick Permit Service Center offers help with:

  • Project assistance and information from City experts on Building, Planning, Enginering, Landscape, Fire Safety and Code Compliance
  • Permitting History for buildings and projects
  • Permit applications for land use, construction, demolition and encroachment
  • Business licenses for contractors wanting to do business in Palm Desert
  • Permits for minor projects including: temporary uses, window replacement, re-roofing, walls, water heaters, HVAC equipment replacement, signs, and others.

The Quick Permit center is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon in the Development Services area at City Hall.     City staffers will continue to be available from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. weekdays to provide assitance and answer questions.

"Anyone who is thinking about starting a project in Palm Desert is encouraged to come to City Hall for early davice that could save time and money," Hermann said.

You';re welcome, Renee but I don't really expect thanks for my contributions to the classroom. IRead More wasn't going to stand by and see kids not have the basic things they needed to get through the class and most teachers are of the same mind :) Sadly, school budgets have never covered all the needs in classrooms.

Dorothy you actually believe criminals can't get guns without a background check. Wow are youRead More naive. Just because YOU don't understand why some people want a particular weapon...does not mean you can impose your ownership standards on someone else. Suppose I suggest you don't need the particular car you drive or the particlar beverage you drink? I see you are opposed to hunting. How do you feel about abortion? Typical liberal double standard at play here??

Totally agree. This is just the beginning of a gun grab. All it will accomplish is furtherRead More restrictions on law abiding citizens. Chicago is a perfect example. Strictest gun control in the nation and highest gun crime and murder rate. Criminals do not comply with the law. Only legal citizens will lose their rights to own the weapon of their choice. Liberals are all about choice when it comes to killing an unborn, but when it comes to a lawful gunowner's choice it's a different story altogether.
