Desert, Pass Area Democrats Celebrate as Obama Win is Secured

Area democrats celebrate the reelection of President Barack Obama, and eagerly anticipate the results of local races.

Democrats from across the Coachella Valley and the San Gorgonio Pass gathered Tuesday night for an election night celebration at Morongo Casino Resort & Spa.

Hundreds gathered in anticipation of the night's results-- with nearly everyone in attendance jumping for joy and shouting "four more years, four more years" as the first major television networks began to call the presidential race in favor of Barack Obama.

Local democratic candidates Mark Orozco, who is vying for the 42nd State Assembly seat against incumbent Brian Nestande, and Dr. Raul Ruiz, who is in a close race with incumbent Mary Bono Mack, were the event's headliners.

As of 10:35 p.m., Ruiz trailed Bono Mack by 580 votes .

You';re welcome, Renee but I don't really expect thanks for my contributions to the classroom. IRead More wasn't going to stand by and see kids not have the basic things they needed to get through the class and most teachers are of the same mind :) Sadly, school budgets have never covered all the needs in classrooms.
