Filing Deadline Extended for PD Council Hopefuls
Six have qualified for three seats, more candidates could be coming
The filing deadline for those wishing to run for Palm Desert City Council has been extended to 5:00 p.m. August 15th.
The extension is per a state law that says when an incumbent does not file for re-election, an additional 5 days are allowed for other non-incumbent candidates to submit their election papers.
Councl Member Cindy Finerty, who said eariler she was , did not file papers by the 5:00 p.m. deadline yesterday.

As of this morning, six candidates have qualified for the November ballot for three seats on the Palm Desert City Council.

Terry Wood has qualified for the ballot for both the City Council, and for the Desert Sands Unified School District Board. According to the Desert Sun, Palm Desert City Attorney David Erwin is looking into the legal issues that could ariseif Wood is elected to both posts.
The City Council and the DSUSD Board have some overlapping jursidictions and responsibilities.
