Involved in a Non-Profit? Learn About Tax Requirements in Free Seminar

The California Board of Equalization is holding a free seminar Wednesday to teach representatives of non-profit organizations and people interested in forming non-profits about a wide range of topics related to taxes and filing requirements.

Supervisor John J. Benoit will open the seminar at 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 24 at the Board of Supervisors Chambers in the Riverside County Administration Center, 4080 Lemon St.

“The worthy work of non-profits in a variety of areas improves the quality of life and services available to Riverside County residents,” said Supervisor John J. Benoit. “I am proud to bring this event to Riverside which will be of great value and usefulness to the non-profit sector.”

The seminar is hosted by the Board of Supervisors in partnership with State Board of Equalization Vice Chair Michelle Steel.

 Topics include sales and use tax with fundraising, state income tax reporting, employment taxes, property tax exemptions and filing requirements, permit requirements and regulation of charities. Experts from the Franchise Tax Board, Office of the California Attorney General and Employment Development Department will discuss these topics to help non-profit organizations better understand the processes.
