Live Streaming: Salton Sea Future on the Table at Gov't Forum

Palm Desert's congressman is meeting with other government officials this morning and you can watch the meeting live from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

A Coachella Valley congressman, a representative from Sen. Barbara Boxer's office and an official from the Department of the Interior will take part in a public meeting today about the Salton Sea.

Rep. Raul Ruiz, D-Palm Desert, U.S. Department of the Interior Assistant Secretary for Water and Science Anne Castle and Boxer's representative, Joaquin Esquivel, will meet with local leaders and residents at 9 a.m. at the North Shore Beach and Yacht Club.

The public can watch the meeting live on YouTube, Ruiz spokeswoman Whitney Mitchell said.

Topics will include Salton Sea projects and a conservation plan, she said.

  • 9:15 – 9:45: Remarks by elected officials 
  • 9:45 – 10:15: Introductions
  • 10:15 – 11:15: Red Hill Bay project
  • 11:15 – 12:00: Briefing from State on Species Habitat Conservation Plan status
  • 12:00 – 1:15: Lunch
  • 1:15 – 3:00: Other project discussions, brainstorming
  • 3:00 p.m.: Adjourn
