Spiegel Latest to Qualify for Council Vote

Mayor Bob Spiegel joins two others in qualifying for the November ballot

Palm Desert Mayor Bob Spiegel has returned his nomination papers and has qualified for the November elections for Palm Desert City Council. City Clerk Rachelle Klassen informed Patch of the update late Friday afternoon.

Spiegel is the third person to qualify for the ballot, joining challenger Van Tanner and City Councilmember Bill Kroonen.

Three seats on the City Council, currently held by incumbents Spiegel, Kroonen and Cindy Finerty, will be put before voters in November.

Finerty took out her nomination papers earlier this week.  Five others have also taken out papers in attempt to qualify for the ballot by the August 10th deadline.

Van Tanner will get the job done. If you want someone you can trust, with integrity and character, Vans the man!

I would like someone to post a map of where the Candidates reside. I would also like to see a debate with ALL Candidates participating and answer ALL questions from ALL Voters in attendance. Please don't be like our Elected County (Supervisor John Benoit) and State Officials (Assemblyman Brian Nestande) who only show their faces Locally when there is a photo op. Supervisor Benoit and Assemblyman Nestande have not had a Town Hall meeting since October 2011 concerning Jail Realignment. A single issue event. He had a Meeting in Rancho Mirage @ a later date but mainly complained how his hands were tied be a Minority Republican. This is why he hasn't had a succesful Bill signed into Law since being Elected. FYI nothing has been done since by either Benoit or Nestande to mitigate this issue which will have a direct impact on Palm Desert but hope the State Initiatve passes in November to assure long term funding. We need our Elected Palm Desert City Officials to truly be Open and Transparent.

Also check Supervisor John Benoit's salary......it's out of control! And where does he live good question...I know its not where he has released the 3,000 or so inmates early...
