Orozco gets Endorsement from RivCo Controller

State Assembly candidate notes second endorsement by key fiscal figure.

42nd Assembly District candidate Mark Orozco (D-Beaumont) announced today the endorsement of Riverside County Auditor-Controller Paul Angulo.

"Mark Orozco has been working tirelessly to earn a seat in the Assembly. This is the kind of work ethic we need to see more of in our government. By endorsing Mark, I am voting for alternative leadership based on commitment, honesty, hard work and integrity. He is a man on a mission and will bring credit to our communities," Angulo said.

"I am humbled and honored to have the support of Paul Angulo as well as his full confidence," said Mark Orozco. "As the Riverside County Auditor-Controller, he has been a champion for ethics in government and a watchdog of tax payer dollars. As the next assemblyman, I am looking forward to working with Angulo on fiscal transparency and efficiency in the use of public funds. This is important for Riverside and it's important to our communities in a time of crisis and a demand for strong fiscal responsibility."

The endorsement follows that of State Controller John Chiang, who endorsed Orozco earlier this year.

Considering the current California economic mess, these endorsements, from people involved with the fiscal side of our State and County, may not be a good thing.

Proud of our local community leader working hard to represent us in Sacramento! A true voice for the Hispanic community and all people working hard for a better tomorrow!
James McDonald September 19, 2012 at 02:23 am
Wow! I am impressed, my hat has to go off to Mark Orozco. California needs fiscally responsible leadership...Mark Orozco understands that great schools are the backbone of our community and our country, and we need his leadership in Sacramento to fight efforts to cut education funding. I am not easily impressed, but if both the state and county controller believe in him, I think we should give him a shot! After speaking with our County Controller last week, the Controller indicated that Mr. Orozco has more of an opportunity and the ability to work with both parties. This would mean more resources coming into our county and into our communities.
Tristan September 19, 2012 at 03:06 pm
Gary,
I think you are being stereo typical and some of your past post here on the patch have been a little racist against Hispanics. I've met Mr. Orozco at a Dinner Fundraiser for our local Veterans and he sounded American to me...on how proud he was of his father and father-law serving in Vietnam for their country, even prouder with his brothers returning from Iraq, in protecting our freedoms, but most of all, giving opportunity - not handouts to many Hispanics or Mexican Americans in the United States. Shame on you Gary! That is an insult to me as a Veteran and a insult to my wife and kids who are Hispanic. Furthermore, I've never heard Mr. Orozco speak of not wanting to protect our boarders, but just the opposite. You are either misinformed or being untruthful! I can see, you are all about bringing a good man, an honest man, and a family man down because he happens to be Hispanic. Give Mr. Orozco a call and met with him before you go around and speak about his character. In the Marines, we call that a coward! I have faith, Mr. Orozco will represent me, my family, my neighbors, and most importantly my community no matter their race, gender, or political preference. To me...thats American and it says a lot about a man's character. "Hoo Rah!" Tristan Johnson Ret. USMC
James McDonald September 19, 2012 at 04:32 pm
Wow Gary, you are racist and against our U.S Veterans! How far are you going to push this? You can't defend yourself, just let it go! I know Tristan personally, he is a true american and a dedicated patriot to our country. I have to aslo say, he is one of the most well informed citizens in our community; a parent, soccer coach, PTA volunteer, local business owner, and advocate for our Veterans. Did I miss anything Tristan?
Gary, who are you? You are nobody! Nobody with true creditability in our community! Tristan, thank you for your comments and thank you for your service! God Bless you and god bless America!
Mariana Zuelsdorf September 19, 2012 at 04:32 pm
Mr McDonald would claim that I am racist, and I'll admit that I am...towards people would enter our country illegally from any country, living in the US with privileges but without paying Federal or State income taxes. I would like for anyone, someone, to explain why we, as a country, should accept and condone illegals. Gary has a valid point. Why not opportunities for all citizens, regardless of race, gender, or ethnicity? Why separate ethnic groups? And why in the world should anyone condone illegals?
Mariana Zuelsdorf September 19, 2012 at 04:46 pm
Oh jeeze, here we go again! Gary said nothing to insult Mr Johnson or to show that he has disrespect for veterans. And Mr Johnson's support of Mr Orozco has nothing to do with being a veteran. You, Mr McDonald, are seemingly suggesting that anyone, not voting for Orozco, is non-patriotic. And that is truly insulting!
Gunnar Hardy September 19, 2012 at 05:28 pm
Guys... CHILL OUT!!! don't you think that there are much bigger fish to fry? Mr. McDonald, America was founded on a principal of free speech and Gary is entitled to his opinions just as much as you and I are. and Gary if you feel as though your comments may put you in hot water such as this, then don't post it. agree to disagree. Come on, didn't we learn about this kind of thing in elementary school? As a political candidate myself, it is my DUTY to listen to the expressed opinions of you both, but guys let's not fight over something as petty as this, let's fight for our right to fix our screwed up political system, or even the messed up educational system. Please, as mature adults lets fight for something WORTH fighting over! thank you.
Gunnar Hardy September 19, 2012 at 06:20 pm
Sir, respectfully i am not asking you to "muzzle" yourself nor was it my intention to state such a thing. I am not attacking you nor am I your enemy. I am simply trying to state to Mr. McDonald, that YOU have a constitutional right to free speech and that you should Not be "muzzled". and to you, I am stating that there are much bigger issues at hand here in California than fighting over ones political views, and that Mr. McDonald and yourself should agree that your views may differ and move on. Our focus should be to come together as a nation to rectify these issues on election day. Our country was based on freedom of speech and the freedom to choose who we want to represent us as the common citizen for the next 2 or 4 years. I appologize if my statement was unclear, and I hope this rectifies any offense you may have taken.
Gunnar Hardy September 19, 2012 at 07:11 pm
And I agree, but I also see that if we are only focusing on one person or one instance instead of the whole picture. If you would like to speak to me personally, or if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call me at: 951.234.2770 or email me at: ghardy@gunnarhardy.com. I enjoy hearing from concerned citizens such as yourself.
Tristan September 19, 2012 at 07:13 pm
Thanks Gunnar,
Well said! I am not the one to trample on ones constitutional rights, specially after fighting for them, but Gary and Mariana go way to far. Mr. McDonald has a good point and knows me pretty well. I am sure Gary is a good guy, but tends to throw unfounded accusations at me and Mark Orozco, anybody that threatens his way of life. If Gary only knew that I served as a boarder patrol officer for 5 years after the war before becoming a local business owner, he would watch his tongue. My advice to Gary! Do your homework! Don't believe in everything you read on the patch or in the papers, especially blogs like this one. Well documented facts, give me a break! Please don't insult me Gary, I have seen your past history of blogs on the patch...you have some nerve! Based on your past blogs, you get off on bringing down communities! You call your self an American! Please...don't insult me!!!!! By the way Gunnar, good luck on your school board race! Tristan Johnson Ret. USMC
Gunnar Hardy September 19, 2012 at 07:18 pm
Thank you sir for your words of encouragement. I do what I can to help and educate my fellow citizens. And thank you for your service to your country. Semper Fi!

As long as there are illegals, of ANY nationality, crossing our borders, I will fight for the rights of legal citizens. I don't believe anyone should receive special treatment. Like you, my husband is a veteran, having served 26 years. I do call myself an American, strongly supporting our country, just as I did as a military wife of 26 years. I have no idea what being a border patrol officer has to do with this and why Gary should watch his tongue. I'm sure you are a very nice person, Mr Johnson, but we are on complete opposite sides of the fence on the issue of illegals.
Jack Smith September 19, 2012 at 09:16 pm
Careful Mariana, McDonald will be attacking your loyalties next.
And Gunnar, thank you so much for helping to educate all of us fellow citizens.
Tristan September 20, 2012 at 12:12 am
Gary,
Please get over it! We can agree to disagree. Stop being pushy over the same issue over and over again. We get it and we get you! You proved it here on this blog just as I expected so everyone can see. Thank you, Tristan Johnson Ret. USMC
Tristan September 20, 2012 at 02:59 pm
Gary! How is the Banning Informer doing? Lets tell the truth about your involvement and connection to the Banning Informer and how you went after our Vets! BAD...BAD...BAD!

Mariana Zuelsdorf September 20, 2012 at 04:35 pm
Tristan, do you have proof that Gary is involved with that spurious site? Thanks
ATC September 20, 2012 at 04:54 pm
Just what "Catch", Charles? I enjoy your comments and am usually on the same page as you, but if you are going to go down the same road as Tristen, with completely unfounded accusations without a single piece of evidence, then your integrity is as questionable as his.
Independent September 20, 2012 at 05:06 pm
Charles is a flamer, when he sees anyone piling on someone else, he just has to jump on top.
Mariana Zuelsdorf September 20, 2012 at 05:24 pm
Wait, guys, this accusation towards Gary (whom I do not know and have never met) is either a lie or the truth. Tristan, DO you have proof? If you received the information from someone else, do they have proof? Considering the reputation of the Banning Informer, that's a pretty damning accusation. Charles, I can't believe you accept this without proof! This is getting uglier by the minute
Ginny Talerico September 20, 2012 at 07:13 pm
A flamer is similar to a troll. It refers to any internet user who comes upon others having an online argument, and joins (piles) in to help one side attack the other. This makes the conversation go up "in flames". A troll's intent is shutting down conversation, a flamer's intent is to discredit other users. Both are users intent on keeping a site's conversations on just their own agendas by deploying these ongoing tactics in tandem. Just as you should not "feed the trolls", you should also not "add fuel to the flamers." They are the more dangerous of the two, for they will often be on a site for some time, actively participating in various conversations, but are easily identified by long term users who will begin to notice a pattern of inpugning other users/sites at regular intervals. When confronted, a flamer will claim they are being personally attacked. Once you see any phrase resembling that phrase, assume its a flamer. Hope that helps.
Danny Lovita September 20, 2012 at 10:07 pm
Is the seat Mark Orozco leaving behind the same one both Gunner and Lloyd are running for? Has he endorsed either one? And, a side note to Mr. Charles Ferrell, in one of your blogs about verification of media, you defined what an internet trolls/sockpuppets was yourself. Or are there two Charles Ferrells on this site?
Gunnar Hardy September 20, 2012 at 11:54 pm
anytime, mr smith. It is my duty to do so.
Gunnar Hardy September 20, 2012 at 11:55 pm
LOL! This is sounding a lot like high school all over again!
Gunnar Hardy September 20, 2012 at 11:58 pm
the posts tonight are actually quite entertaining. There may be a nobel prize in order...
Gunnar Hardy September 21, 2012 at 12:05 am
Yes, it is the same position, and no, Orozco has not endorsed either of us, nor do I think he has endorsed anyone running for the seat. please feel free to correct me if i'm wrong.
Gunnar Hardy September 21, 2012 at 12:07 am
If anyone has a question to who has or has not endorsed me, please feel free to check on my website, www.gunnarhardy.com under the tab "endorsements" thank you. - Gunnar Hardy

I was a teacher for 30 years. There was not ONEschool year when I didn't personally pay for schoolRead More supplies for my students ($500-$1,500 a yr)
Renee Schiavone (Editor) May 16, 2013 at 02:15 pm
@B.K.-- Thank you for your help with the community :) I have a great respect for all teachers!
B.K. Holthaus May 16, 2013 at 06:05 pm
You';re welcome, Renee but I don't really expect thanks for my contributions to the classroom. IRead More wasn't going to stand by and see kids not have the basic things they needed to get through the class and most teachers are of the same mind :) Sadly, school budgets have never covered all the needs in classrooms.
