Palm Desert agreed to continue its $54,000 sponsorship this week of the postponed “Rock ‘N’ Roll” New Year’s Eve Half Marathon.
Councilwoman Jan Harnik called on council members to set an example so that Indian Wells also approves funds for the event.
The event, which will wind through Indian Wells to Palm Desert, was canceled this year to allow more time to market the event, according to organizers.
"We look forward to opening registration for the 2012 event in the near future," said Dan Cruz, a spokesman for the series.
