Raul Ruiz Announces New Subcommittee Assignments

The new congressman will serve in a handful of committees.

Rep. Raul Ruiz, D-Palm Desert, announced his subcommittee assignments today.

Ruiz, an emergency room doctor who beat 14-year-incumbent Mary Bono Mack in November to win the 36th Congressional District seat, will serve on:

  • The Subcommittee on Indian and Alaska Native Affairs, part of the Natural Resources Committee;
  • The Subcommittee on Water and Power, also a part of the Natural Resources Committee, and;
  • The Subcommittee on Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs, part of the Committee on Veterans Affairs.

"My subcommittee assignments will allow me to be an effective advocate for the people and communities I represent," Ruiz said. "I look forward to working with my Democratic and Republican colleagues on these subcommittees to make a direct and meaningful impact in the 36th District and across the nation."
