Ruiz 'Listening Tour' Visits Coachella Today

Ruiz' meetings on the future of Medicare hits the East Valley.

Congressional candidate Raul Ruiz (D-Coachella) is hosting another in a series of meetings with the public to discuss Medicare.

Today's meeting is at the Coachella Senior Center, beginning at 12:00 noon.

Ruiz has been focusing the majority of his campaign stops on the Medicare issue.

"The debate about the future of Medicare will be an essential part of the November election,” said Ruiz, an Emergency Room physician.  “I want to hear where people stand.”

“With the addition of Paul Ryan on the Republican ticket, Medicare is in serious jeopardy,” he continued. “The Ryan plan will end Medicare as we know it by turning it into a voucher program. Our seniors will end up paying thousands of dollars each year out of pocket for their healthcare. It essentially puts the burden of rising healthcare costs on the shoulders of our seniors, while protecting multimillionaires and corporations that ship jobs overseas.”

Ruiz is challenging Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack (R-Palm Springs) in the newly drawn 36th Congressional District.

He is flat-out lying about the Ryan plan affecting seniors. It doesn't change the coverage of those currently 55+. In typical fashion, he speaks to a group of seniors and presents them with the "throw granny over the cliff" rhetoric.
It still amazes me that he, as a physician, favors Obamacare. My vote will go to Bono-Mack.

I would of gone but truth be told, his staff are racists. Some meetings, whites are not allowed, "no gringos" wanted; this should be illegal, ive spoken to some agencies via email, ill keep trying to seek racial justice in the face of the Ruiz terror campaign taking place in our community, pitting white vs brown. Its sad. This is not my vision for America. When the election is over I hope to return to my non profit work of building bridges among the community, understanding and unity.

They treated me just fine...I went to school with Mary from grade school on...she is the daughter of a doctor, and never lacked anything in life. Her voting record for unfunded wars and tax cuts at the same time helped create financial disaster. Her voting against the Ledbetter act shows what she thinks of women. She has voted against gay issues time and time again...I am a 50 year old old white guy who can't stand bigoted old white guys believing they are being trampled on...Tax cut ..get rid of regulations...put God back into everything..same old crap sandwich delivered to old geezer country clubbers and dim wit shopkeepers by Mary Bono Mack while she votes against the interests of 90% of her constituents and spends more time in Florida than she does here...12 years of telling us how bad government is and proving it...Time to go..

I dont agree with Mary Bonos record. But I dont agree with Ruiz's racism. His volunteer co-ordinator was promoted to political director, he should never have been hired let alone promoted. We cant fight racsm with more racism, he holds no whies allowed meetings in the Mexican community. He tries to start fight in a park , breaking the law becuse he mistook someone for "tea party". I am feeling this angry, anti white sentiment by Ruiz is a glimpse of what we will ser if he is elected. The lgbt rep is also likewise hostile, angry, writes mean letters to straight people in the democratic party trying yo run thrm out of the party becuse the are not gay. He even told every dem rep from thru out the county that , on behalf of Ruiz, they are all sneaky. White democrats are directed to volunteer in white areas, told they cannot go work with Mexicans or enter Mexican areas. They also use occupy cv militants to man phone banks, and voter registration militants that have been threatening. they run a boiler room operation where fake letters to the editor are written and then pick off a list of names to use on the bottom of the letter.
Bascally, this Ruiz campaign seems more like Malcom X than the Martin Luther King, ....angry, dirty tricks, street thugs, racists. I dont agree with Bono buy I dont agree that Puerto Rican inpired racism against whites and anti straight gay anger to straights is the answer.

Ok imagine you are no longer allowed om certain places because you are white. Welcome to Ruiz's new America.

The way to expand rights of LGBT and Latinos is NOT to limit the rights of whites and straights. I dont mean in some abstract way such as making you accept gay marriage, I mean , limiting YOUR rights . You cant walk here or go there or join this group or meet with those people because the color of your skin is wrong or your sexual orientation isnt correct. Because youre straight and white.

@B.K.-- Thank you for your help with the community :) I have a great respect for all teachers!

You';re welcome, Renee but I don't really expect thanks for my contributions to the classroom. IRead More wasn't going to stand by and see kids not have the basic things they needed to get through the class and most teachers are of the same mind :) Sadly, school budgets have never covered all the needs in classrooms.
