Seventeen Road Projects Set For This Year

Following massive delays on Cook Street, a few more road projects are in the works in Palm Desert in 2012.

Motorists still nursing a headache over delays from road work in Palm Desert can rest easy.

"The end is in sight of all the road construction that has affected the city of Palm Desert," Palm Desert Mayor Bob Spiegel said.

However, 17 projects are in the works for the rest of the year, Spiegel said in his recent state of the city address.

"It will be another busy year for our public works department," he said.

Two projects on Cook Street at Hovely Lane and Country Club Drive tied up traffic for months.

A street resurfacing project is set for Highway 111, according to Spiegel.

"Signal and interconnect and modification projects on Monterey Avenue, Cook Street, Country Club Drive, Fred Waring Drive and Portola Avenue, but they will not be digging up the streets, so it won't be as bad," Spiegel said.

Sidewalk improvements are also set on Highway 111 at Monterey Avenue.
