CSUSB Palm Desert Graduation Set For Next Week

The graduating class will include undergraduate and graduate students as well as those who have completed the university's teaching credential program.

Graduation for 145 students from is set for June 16 at the Show at the Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa in Rancho Mirage.

The ceremony – the 21st for the university – will kick off at 6 p.m., according to Mike Singer, a spokesman for CSUSB.

The graduates, include many first-generation college students as well as undergraduate and graduate students.

Chauncey Veatch, who was named National Teacher of the Year in 2002 by President George W. Bush, will give the commencement address.

Special will be given out to Rebecca Scull for Outstanding Undergraduate Student and Tina Wilcox for Outstanding Graduate Student.

Also, a mother-daughter duo will walk together to receive their diplomas.

Alana Townsend will receive her master’s degree in public administration, while her daughter, Stephanie Townsend, will receive her bachelor of science degree in nursing.
