Information Meeting For On Doctor of Education Degree

Cal State San Bernardino’s Palm Desert Campus will offer an information session on Tuesday, Jan. 24, for potential candidates to the university’s educational doctorate program.

The meeting, which begins at 4 p.m., is geared toward students wishing to begin the program in fall 2012. The session will take place in the campus’s Oliphant Auditorium. It will provide an overview of the program, its requirements and the application process. Reservations are not required.

The doctorate program in educational leadership prepares students to be reflective practitioners who will enhance their knowledge, skills and dispositions as leaders in the schools.

"The doctor of education degree offered at Cal State San Bernardino’s Palm Desert Campus is a wonderful opportunity to study, do research and enhance professional practices in preparation for advanced school or district leadership positions,” said Doris Wilson, associate dean at the CSUSB Palm Desert Campus. “This was a dream, now a reality for our valley educators.”

Completion of the educational doctorate degree requires 94 quarter units. Most students will complete the program in three years. Students generally take two courses every quarter. In the third year, students focus on completing the dissertation.

Recognizing the growth and diversity in school systems and community colleges, the Ed.D. program at CSUSB teaches candidates to be educational leaders in rural, urban and suburban school and community college settings.

Cal State San Bernardino is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The College of Education is also accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. The Ed.D. in educational leadership at CSUSB is also accredited by WASC.
