McCallum Opens Registration for School Trips

The "Field Trip Series" to offer educational programs for students ad teachers

Registration starts tomorrow for the McCallum Theatre Institute's Field Trip Series of performances for local school children.

The series at the McCallum Theatre starts on Sept. 24 with "Rock the
Presidents'' by Childsplay Theatre. The performances are free for local
students and teachers and feature performers from around the world, McCallum
spokeswoman Cate Ervin said.

The lineup also includes the National Circus of the People's Republic of
China on Oct. 1; "Of Mice and Men'' on Oct. 23; Jazzreach in January;  "The
Adventures of Huckleberry Finn'' in March; and "Peter and the Wolf'' by the
University of Redlands Orchestra in May.

Attendance forms are on the McCallum's website -- they must be faxed to
(760) 776-6197 or mailed to Joanna Fookes, McCallum Theatre Institute, 73000
Fred Waring Drive, Palm Desert, CA 92260. Seating is first-come, first-served.

The McCallum Theatre Institute is the education division of the McCallum
Theatre and offers arts education programs, including free and subsidized
activities for more than 39,000 schoolchildren and teachers every year, Ervin
said.
