Palm Desert Graduates Enter The World

Some 470 seniors received diplomas Thursday evening.

More than 470 seniors graduated from Thursday.

Of the 477 students graduating, 90 percent plan to attend college. Forty percent will go to a four-year college and half are going to attend a community college.

According to the high school's newspaper, The Spear, the students traveling the farthest include:

  • Megan Thiessen, who will attend Hawaii University;
  • Anise Meena and Grant Devlin, who plan to attend Hawaii Pacific University;
  • Brooke Scott, who will travel to Southern Maine Community College; and
  • Ashton Liptrot-Mayshack, who will attend University of Alaska, Fairbanks.

Notable admissions include, Johns Hopkins University, UCLA, USC, UC Berkley, Cal Tech and Stanford.

Kyle Durst plans to attend the U.S. Naval Academy in Anapolis, Maryland.

The graduates will spend the night at Disneyland and are set to return at 7:30 a.m., when they will be able to pick up their diplomas.
