Local Organization To Give Away Free Prom Dresses

Desert Best Friend's Closet needs donations of dresses, shoes, evening bags, tiaras, gloves, wraps and costume jewelry for prom night.

With prom season approaching, a local non-profit is opening its doors to outfit high school senior girls for the big night.

To do so, Desert Best Friend's Closet is seeking donations from the local community in the form of formal dresses and accessories – shoes, evening bags, tiaras, gloves, wraps and costume jewelry. The deadline is March 31.

  • The Wardrobe, 108 S. Indian Canyon Drive in Palm Springs;
  • Drapers and Damons, 42396 Bob Hope Drive in Rancho Mirage;

  • Fashion Bug, 78870 Highway 111 in La Quinta.

All dresses must be dry cleaned and on hangers, and cannot have tears, stains, broken zippers or missing buttons, according to Connie Golds, president and founder of Desert Best Friend's Closet.
