Popular Professor To Give Last Lecture On 2012 Election

A College of the Desert professor set to retire at the end of the year will give his final lecture next week on the 2012 election.

“The History of American Political Parties and Its Implications for the Presidential Election of 2012” is set for Wednesday, Dec. 7 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the Pollock Theatre on the .

“Bill Gudelunas has represented COD very well over the years,” said COD President

Jerry Patton. “He is respected by our communities as an authority on local, regional and world history. His community lecture series has standing room only every year. We’ll miss Dr. Gudelunas but wish him a very enjoyable retirement.”

Dr. Gudelunas received his education in Pennsylvania, earning a B.S. from West

Chester State College, an M.A. and a Ph.D. from Lehigh University. He has taught at

Lehigh, Pennsylvania State University, and Alvernia College, where he was head of the Social Science Department as well as an associate professor in history. In addition to his current position since 1990 as Professor of Political Science and American History at College of the Desert, he is also an adjunct lecturer in history at California State University, San Bernardino, Palm Desert Campus (CSUSB).
