Report: Palm Desert Jewish School May be Forced to Close Doors for Good

The only Jewish day school in Palm Desert-- and the Valley-- may be shutting down for good if it doesn't receive necessary funding soon, according to a news report.

KESQ-TV reports that Jewish Community School of the Desert is at risk of closing its doors for good once summer vacation begins, if a commitment of $175,000 is not received by Wednesday.

"The economy has hit our school, just like everything else," PTO President Jerry Roisentel told KESQ.  "We're a small Jewish Day school, we've represented the community for 21 years."

Just last month, the school announced to Palm Desert Patch its plans to become a STEM magnet school in the Fall.

Jewish Community School of the Desert serves children grades kindergarten through fifth, according to their website, which also says they are the only independent, fully accredited day school between Los Angeles and Phoenix.
