College of the Desert will be offering local middle school students the chance to learn robotics at the second of its three-camp series in Palm Desert.
COD's free Youth Robotics Camps, now in their fourth year, teach the STEM topics (science, technology, engineering and math) through the use of teamwork and culminating in the building of a robot.
After the final camp in Palm Springs, a Science and Technology Festival will be hold at Westfeld Palm Desert on August 11th.
"This exciting learning experience for middle school youth is a way to help students explore STEM careers while using their imagaination and creativity," said Elli Tourje, Community Relations Specialist for Time Warner Cable, presenting sponsor of the robotics camps.
The free July 30 to August 10 camp will be at the PaCE Center on the COD campus in Palm Desert. The camps are almost full, and a waiting list has formed for youth between the ages of 10 and 13.
