Young Living Desert Lovers Become Ambassadors

Students entered a contest to win the roles by submitting a photo of themselves and a short essay describing what The Living Desert means to them.

Twenty-two children have been selected to serve as ambassadors for The Living Desert, following the first-ever "Zoo Cool" contest.

The 22 winners selected range in age from 4 to 12 and include two sets of twins, zoo officials said.

The winners are part of The Living Desert’s “Zoo Cool Crew” and will be featured on billboards, TV commercials, web, posters and brochures.

They will also serve as ambassadors of the park, sharing all they learn at The Living Desert with their schoolmates, friends and family.

Their families will receive a year's free admission to the zoo, officials said.

The students entered the contest by submitting photos of themselves and short essays describing what The Living Desert means to them.

“To be Zoo Cool means to love The Living Desert; to love nature, conservation, and of course, love all of our animals,” Living Desert spokesperson Nyla Patzner said.

“These kids are going to be the faces of The Living Desert for the next year and ambassadors of the park for a lifetime.

"This is an exciting opportunity not only for The Living Desert, but for all of the kids selected. We’re thrilled to have such a wonderful and passionate group.”

The “Crew”, which recently gathered for its first photo session, will soon be seen on advertisements and billboards which are slated to go up later this month.

The winners are:

You';re welcome, Renee but I don't really expect thanks for my contributions to the classroom. IRead More wasn't going to stand by and see kids not have the basic things they needed to get through the class and most teachers are of the same mind :) Sadly, school budgets have never covered all the needs in classrooms.

Dorothy you actually believe criminals can't get guns without a background check. Wow are youRead More naive. Just because YOU don't understand why some people want a particular weapon...does not mean you can impose your ownership standards on someone else. Suppose I suggest you don't need the particular car you drive or the particlar beverage you drink? I see you are opposed to hunting. How do you feel about abortion? Typical liberal double standard at play here??

Totally agree. This is just the beginning of a gun grab. All it will accomplish is furtherRead More restrictions on law abiding citizens. Chicago is a perfect example. Strictest gun control in the nation and highest gun crime and murder rate. Criminals do not comply with the law. Only legal citizens will lose their rights to own the weapon of their choice. Liberals are all about choice when it comes to killing an unborn, but when it comes to a lawful gunowner's choice it's a different story altogether.
