Dodgers Fire Steve Garvey

The Coachella Valley resident was let go after attempting to buy the troubled franchise, according to Yahoo Sports.

Long time Los Angeles Dodger standout Steve Garvey has been fired from his community relations position with the team, ending a 30-year relationship.

Yahoo sports is reporting that Garvey was let go for continuing to pursue ownership of the major league franchise after being asked to shelve ownership plans.

According to reports, Garvey had been asked by the club to stop efforts to take over the club from embattled current owner Frank McCourt. Garvey had continued to rally community support for his ownership bid, including recent appearances on radio and television in the last two weeks.
