College of the Desert Homecoming Game

College of the Desert's Homecoming football game is Sat. Oct. 15 at 6:00 p.m. and the college is busy with preparations for various activities leading up to the big night against Southwestern College. The community is encouraged to attend the game, especially if you attended COD.

The Office of Student Life will be holding its annual Homecoming King and Queen elections on Oct. 11 and 12. A ‘tail-gate’ party is set for Thursday, Oct. 13 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the quad between the Dining Hall and Administration Buildings on the COD campus. For the tail gate party, a local radio station will play the latest music, burgers will be sold, a golf cart contest and parade will be held, and more.

A cheerleader reunion is scheduled for game-day. Former cheerleaders will gather to reminisce about their experiences on the cheer team while attending COD. They will also decorate the football locker room on the field, practice cheers, and be ready to perform at the game.

The Men’s Tennis Team will be on hand to accept their rings from last season’s State Championship! Special recognition awards will be presented to long-time COD Athletic Trainer Dave Anderson and the winners from the golf cart decorating contest will be announced.

Community members are supporting the COD event by donating the use of vehicles for the Homecoming Court. The Cheerleaders will arrive on a 1974 Crown Triple Fire Engine, owned by David and Shirley Chandler and sponsored for the game by the Coachella Valley Latino Peace Officers' Association.
