CSI Actress Promotes New Tennis Rules

Tennis for children 10 and under has changed as part of an effort to encourage kids to get more involved in the sport.

Eying the future of tennis, the United Tennis Association put on a demonstration of new rules that aim to make the sport easier for youngster under the age of 10.

The rules -- adopted by the USTA and the International Tennis Federation -- require all sanctioned 10-and-under tournaments be played with slower-moving ad lower-bouncing balls, shorter and lighter raquets and on smaller courts.

Actress Elisabeth Shue, who recently joined the cast of CSI in the role of Julie Finlay, was on hand at the event at the BNP Paribas Open on Thursday, March 8 in Indian Wells.

"Do you like the bigger balls?" Sue asked eight Indian Wells children who demonstrated the new rules.

"Yes," the children responded.

Shue is an avid tennis player and fan and is the mother of three children.

The rules are also aimed to make the sport easier for youngsters.
