Grads Turn Down Pro Baseball Offers

Ryan Garvey and David Schuknecht both prepare for college.

Ryan Garvey and David Schuknecht, two key players from 's CIF Finals baseball team, have turned down offers to play professional baseball, and are moving on to play in college. 

Schunkecht was chosen by the Colorado Rockies in the June baseball draft, while Garvey was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies. 

According the to the Desert Sun, Schuknecht was offered $500,000 by the Rockies, but turned it down to attend the University of Arizona, where he is expected to be the Wildcats starting catcher as a true freshman.

Garvey was never given a formal offer by the Phillies, and now moves on to the University of Southern California, where he will play against Schunkecht in the Pac-12 Conference. 

Both players will be eligible for the Major League Baseball Draft again in 2014.
