PDHS Senior Tanner Rahier Taken by Cincinnati

Tanner Rahier is chosen in the second round of the Major League Baseball draft,

Palm Desert High School Senior Tanner Rahier has something to celebrate today.

The highly coveted shortstop was chosen #78 overall by the Cincinnati Reds in the Major League Baseball Draft in New York City.

"Excited to be selected by the Reds organization! Thank you for everyone who has been a part of my development as a person and a player." Rahier said via twitter following the announcement.

Rahier opted to play baseball in a wood-bat developmental league in San Bernardino instead of coming up through the Palm Desert High School system that produced CIF Championship teams two of the past three years.

Two other players with Palm Desert High connections, Ryan Garvey (class of 2011), and Jonathan Serven (class of 2012) are expected to be taken in the draft’s later rounds taking place Today and Wednesday.
