Palm Desert’s boys tennis team is back in the CIF Finals for a second straight year after defeating Burroughs High 14-4 on Tuesday.

The Aztecs doubles teams dominated on a day in the desert where temperatures on-court were pushing 120 degrees.  The three doubles teams (Jack Felich and Austin Rapp; Robby Graham and Cameron McDonald; John Kimmes and Matt Legatt) swept their nine sets to lead the way to the finals.

Palm Desert moves to the CIF-Southern Section Division 2 team finals on May 30th at the Claremont Club. And it’s a familiar foe this time around, as the Aztecs face #2 seed Santa Monica.   The 11-7 in their semi-final match.

For Head Coach Randy Blalock, seeing Santa Monica again brings a bit of  a unique situation.  “We are optimistic with our chances in the finals knowing their lineup—new and returning players – and knowing ours.  We should match up well, but we are relying on what has been our strength all season.. depth throughout.”
