Nadal Not Focused On Revenge Against Djokovic

World No. 2 Rafael Nadal opens up to reporters Thursday, March 8 at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells.

Rafael Nadal's hold on the No. 1 men's tennis ranking was rather short lived compared with some of the other all-time greats.

As the No. 2 ranked Spaniard fights to get back to the top, he faces a perplexing challenge, defeating current No. 1 Novak Djokovic.

Despite holding a 16-14 match advantage over the Serb, Nadal has lost the past seven matches, all finals, to Djovokic dating back to last year's BNP Paribas Open.

"I just want to be a better player," he insisted. "That's enough for me. When I wake up in the morning and go on court, I don't think about Novak. I am thinking about how to improve my game. That's my way. That's how my mind works. I do not have the spirit of revenge."

Thursday's appearance marked the first time Nadal has appeared in public since his agonizing defeat against Djokovic at the Australian Open, where Nadal lost in five sets, lasting 5 hours, 53 minutes.

"It was an emotional match, a long match, a match of great quality," Nadal said. "I was happy to be part of that match, although sad not to have won the fifth set."
