Registration Now Open for Senior Games & International Sports Festival

Over 1,000 athletes participate each year in this energizing event.

The following was submitted for publication by the Desert Recreation District: 

Registration is now open for the 13th Annual Palm Desert Senior Games & International Sports Festival. 

This four-day competition takes places from February 7 – 10, 2013. Athletes and spectators, alike, look forward to this event each year as adult athletes from throughout the United States and Canada compete in 13 sports. 

In partnership with the California Senior Games and National Senior Games Association, this event is one of the few in the Southwestern U.S. that serves to qualify senior (age 55+) athletes for state and national Senior Games.  Over 1,000 athletes participate each year in this energizing event.

Festival headquarters will be the Palm Desert Community Center, with games taking place in venues throughout the city of Palm Desert.  Spectators are welcome to cheer for their favorites.  All events are free to spectators. 

Registration is open and will close January 25, 2013. Participants can register online at:   MyRecreationDistrict.com or DesertSeniorGames.org.  

Participation fee is $40.   There is a $7 per event fee.  Team fees vary on sport.  For information or hardcopy registration forms, call (760) 541-4184.

To kick off the Festival, Opening Ceremonies will take place on Friday, February 8, 2013 at 3:30pm at Palm Desert Civic Center Park.  The Stanley Butler Band is scheduled to entertain and honor the athletes.  John’s Restaurant will be hosting a barbeque meal, available for $15 per person.

You';re welcome, Renee but I don't really expect thanks for my contributions to the classroom. IRead More wasn't going to stand by and see kids not have the basic things they needed to get through the class and most teachers are of the same mind :) Sadly, school budgets have never covered all the needs in classrooms.

Strictest gun control in the nation and highest gun crime and murder rate. Criminals do not comply with the law. Only legal citizens will lose their rights to own the weapon of their choice. Liberals are all about choice when it comes to killing an unborn, but when it comes to a lawful gunowner's choice it's a different story altogether.
