Two Aztecs Receive All-CIF Baseball Honors
Ryan Garvey and Brooks Kriske named to All-CIF Southern Section Division 4 first team.
A pair of players that led Palm Desert to the CIF title game this year have been honored with All-CIF First team selections.
Centerfielder Ryan Garvey (.372 avg, 9 HR, 44 RBI) led the Aztec hitting attack this year, with team highs in home runs and runs batted in.
The son of baseball great Steve Garvey was chosen by Philadelphia in the 2011 MLB amateur draft, and now must choose between pro ball this summer or a scholarship to USC starting this fall.

Pitcher Brooks Kriske (11-2 record, 0.90 ERA, .175 opponent batting) was the ace of the Aztec staff as a junior.
He’s also remembered for hitting a walk-off homerun to beat Sonora in the CIF Division 4 quarterfinal. Coming back to lead the Aztecs for the 2012 season, Kriske has committed to USC following graduation.

Aztec seniors Scotty Burcham and David Schuknecht were named to the All-CIF Southern Section second team.
Burcham, a shortstop, will continue his career at Sacramento State. Catcher Schuknecht was drafted by Colorado in the MLB Draft, and is deciding between professional baseball or a scholarship to the University of Arizona.
