Weekend High School Sports Recap

Girls Basketball – The Palm Desert Lady Aztecs clinched a spot in the CIF-Southern Section playoffs with a 74-33 home win over Xavier Prep on Friday.    The PD girls host Cathedral City Tuesday, and wrap up the season Friday at La Quinta.   The Xavier girls finish their season at Palm Springs on Tuesday. 

Boys Basketball – The Palm Desert boys came closer to securing second place in the Desert Valley League Friday with a win over crosstown rivals Xavier Prep, 73-47. The PD boys visit Cathedral City on Tuesday, and finish the regular season at home with La Quinta on Friday.   The Xavier high squad ends their season Tuesday by hosting Palm Springs. 

Boys Soccer – The Palm Desert boys are out of playoff contention heading into the final week of the DVL season.  The Aztec boys go to Cathedral City on Tuesday and finish by hosting La Quinta on Friday.  Xavier Prep is also out of the postseason hunt. They end the year with Palm Springs on Tuesday. 

Girls Soccer – Palm Desert downed Xavier, 2-0 on Friday.  Out of the playoff race, they finish the year vs Cathedral City on Tuesday, and visit La Quinta on Friday.  The Xavier high girls already have their postseason ticket punched, and finish the regular season Tuesday at DVL leading Palm Springs.

DVL Wrestling Finals -  La Quinta High wrestlers dominated the DVL Individual Championships, winning 10 of the 15 weight divisions.  Xavier Prep’s Roy Galvan won the 105 pound division, defeating Christian Hernandez of Coachella Valley 6-4, while Palm Desert’s Travis Hammer took a 3-1 decision over Cameron Broadhead of La Quinta at 173 pounds.
