Xavier Prep Hosts Open Cross Country Races
The community is invited to join a race series for runners in north Palm Desert.
A popular series of races for runners to test their cross country skills has returned to the desert.
The second annual Cross Country Summer Series features four races a night across an all-dirt loop course, and is open to all ages and skills. The next event is Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
Three races of 2.5 kilometers start the evening, with a final 5k race for those wishing a more challenging distance.

According to XCP cross country coach Aron Lyons, prizes and awards are awarded to top finishers in each age group, as well as awards for outstanding efforts.
Entrants pay $5 per race, which also includes a bottle of water or sports drink. Runner can enter all four races on each night's program for $15.

The race series continues on July 27, before concluding on Aug. 10.
