An excessive heat warning has been issued for the Coachella Valley and the rest of Southern California, for a period beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday June 29 through 8 p.m. Sunday June 30.

"A strong upper level ridge of high pressure over California and Nevada will bring very hot weather to inland areas Friday through Sunday," the Weather Service advised Thursday. "High temperatures will be 116 to 122 in the lower deserts . . . around 110 in the upper deserts . . . 102 to 112 in the Inland Empire. Temperatures in the foothills and mower mountain slopes will range from 100 to 105. Some record temperatures are likely in these areas."
