What do Arnold and the State Department of Toxic Substances Control have in common? They are things I think I think....
# 1 Thing I Think: Arnold! The man everyone knows by one name. Like Donald. Or Curley, Larry and Moe. Politics and politicians remind me of the 3 Stooges sometime. Doing stupid things. Getting themselves in trouble. The latest “Stooge-ism” is by our former governor. Arnold. He admitted he had an affair with a longtime family staffer. An affair that produced a child 10 years ago. He finally admitted it to his estranged wife, Maria. Now we know why the couple decided to separate recently.
Arnold now joins the list of famous (or infamous) public servants caught between the sheets with someone other than their spouse. It goes back to the 1880’s when married President Grover Cleveland had an affair that produced a child. His opponent in the 1884 election used the campaign phrase, "Ma, Ma, where's my Pa? Gone to the White House, ha, ha, ha!," Nice touch. Cleveland won that election, by the way. More recently, of course, there was John Edwards. He positioned himself as an honest, family values candidate. Not so fast Senator. What about that affair you had that produced a child? And, of course, no list of cheaters would be complete without President Bill Clinton.
My unofficial poll (Facebook posts) shows the majority of people think Arnold’s bed partner is as much to blame (assuming there’s blame to throw around) as he is. I agree. Last I heard it takes two people to have an affair. A one person affair is called something else…but we won’t get into that. What’s your take on this? Feel free to post a comment.

# 2 Thing I Think: “We Dropped the Ball”. That’s what the state’s Department of Toxic Substances Control said when it was revealed they failed to control hazardous waste dumped by Western Environmental Inc. in Mecca. The stink made dozens of nearby residents sick. Admitting they “dropped the ball” isn’t enough. I propose the civil servants responsible for this blunder be sentenced to live near the dump for 3 months this summer. In a trailer. With no air conditioning. I also think that this NEVER would have happened if the “nearby residents” weren’t poor and Mexican.
