Summer Travels take me to Utah

Traveling With Francoise visits Utah!

When the heat rises off to the beach everyone seems to go.  I went the other direction, to Cedar City Utah.

Cedar City is about 180 North of Las Vegas.  I was certain the area would be flat lands, plains type setting.  I could not have been farther from the truth. Cedar City is a historic town nestled in a lovely canyon.  Beautiful Juniper and Cedar trees are everywhere. The soil is a coppery rust, and flowers are blooming on every corner.

I stayed at the Iron Gate Inn Bed and Breakfast.  This Victorian house is lovely and modern.  The rooms are spacious, with all the amenities.  Owner Susan and CR Wooten make you feel right at home, as well as spoil you with delicious food.  Behind the house is the Iron Gate Winery with a tasting room, perfect for after a night out at the Shakespeare Festival only a block away.

I also played golf at the Cedar Ridge Golf Course.  This public course had stunning views, is well maintained, challenging, yet fun.  $22 for eighteen holes with cart, yes you are reading that right.  I found the entire area to be very affordable with so much to do.

Cedar Breaks National Park is only 21 miles from the City, amazing!! The Frontier Museum is a must, and Main Street takes you back in time.  There is snow is the winter, in fact four lovely seasons.  This is a travel destination I can't wait to visit again.
