Desert Realtors Give Back, $9K Raised for Valley Youth

Some 144 Realtors and real estate associate members played in the May 6 golf tourney at Bermuda Dunes Country Club in Bermuda Dunes.

The California Desert Association of REALTORS’ Annual Golf Tournament raised  $9,000 for the CDAR Scholarship Fund for local high school seniors and for First Tee of the Coachella Valley.

“This annual event is a testimony to how CDAR  gives back to our community by helping to educate our young people,” said CDAR President  Wendy Formica.  "We also want to thank our wonderful, generous sponsors who make the tournament and the scholarships possible for our high school seniors."        

Some 144 Realtors and real estate associate members played in the May 6  golf tourney at Bermuda Dunes Country Club in Bermuda Dunes.  An awards dinner, attended by about 200, followed for a trophy presentation for best players. Doug Motz and Carol Motz of Doug Motz Insurance were chair and vice-chair of the tournament.

Golf tournament winners were:

Low Gross:

  • 3rd Place — Walter Neil, Joe Vetrano, Jason Novack and John Moder
  • 2nd Place – Craig Conley, Market Bennett, CarlRoetenmeyer and Josh Devane
  • 1st Place – Rudy Gaza, Mario Blandon, Robert Schrumpf and Soterios Angriostow 
Low Net:
  • 3rd Place – Jeff Cross, Ryan Orr, Laura Cowieand Matt Robey
  • 2nd Place – Roger Joles, Sean LaRue, LaidlyGordon and Rick Lehman
  • 1st Place – Jim Grant, Steve Warfe, Paul Strohecker and Pete Reeves

The winner of putting contest was Greg Grub and Michael Schwartz. Sponsor was Todd Burgess, Burgess North American. Winner of the Mulligan drawing, sponsored by Rich Jacob of Summit Funding was Peter Terracciano.

For more than a decade, CDAR has been awarding scholarships for graduating seniors from high schools throughout  the Coachella Valley. Proceeds will also go to First Tee of the Coachella Valley which provides learning facilities and resources for young people to develop character through golf.
