Nonprofit For MS Patients Gets $25K Grant

The Coachella Valley Spotlight funds will specifically benefit the twice weekly strength training, exercise and cardiovascular health programs for ACT for MS clients.

ACT for MS received a Christmas gift in the form of a $25,000 grant from the H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation, in partnership with KPSP Local 2, this month.

ACT for MS, which is the December recipient of the Coachella Valley Spotlight, will use the funds to provide services and programs for Coachella Valley residents diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

“These funds are so important to our organization,” said Board President and Founder Gloria Greer. “The services we provide for MS clients are free of charge, and now we can continue our level of service thanks to this wonderful grant.”

Programs and services provided by the organization are free to ensure that any client can participate without using resources that would otherwise go to necessities such as housing, food and utilities.

For those who qualify, ACT for MS also offers programs to help clients pay electric bills and purchase special equipment. Established in 1999, ACT for MS is a resource for information and support for people diagnosed with the debilitating disease, for which there is no cure.

“After seeing how ACT for MS has become a huge asset in the valley for people living with MS, we are confident this gift will be carefully allocated,,” said Christopher McGuire, Vice President of Programs at the H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation.

As part of the Coachella Valley Spotlight, KPSP Local 2 featured ACT for MS on its “Eye on the Desert” community program, in public service announcements, and on the www.kpsplocal2.com website throughout the month.
