Three Blood Drives Planned in Valley This Week

If you donate in Palm Desert on Saturday, you'll get a voucher for two free tacos and a milkshake at Jack in the Box.

Starting Tuesday, Desert Blood Services will hold three blood drives in the Coachella Valley this week.

All donors get free cholesterol screenings and physicals. The blood drives are scheduled:

  • Tuesday, 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Desert Mirage High School's gym, 86150 Avenue 66, Thermal;
  • Wednesday, 8 to 11 a.m. in the city of Palm Desert's employee lounge, 73510 Fred Waring Drive; and
  • Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Oasis Seventh-day Adventist Church, 74200 Country Club Drive, Palm Desert.

Tuesday's donors will receive a "Keep Calm and Donate Blood" T-shirt, Wednesday's donors get a buy one Famous Star, get one free coupon for Carl's Jr., and Saturday's donors will receive a voucher for two free tacos and a milkshake at Jack in the Box.

Healthy people at least 15 years old can give blood, but those 15 and 16 years old must provide written parental consent. Photo identification is required, and all donors should eat and be well-hydrated before arriving, according to Desert Blood Services.
