Walkers Raise Nearly $115K To Beat Alzheimer's

More than 700 people participated in the event at Palm Desert's Civic Center Park over the past weekend, but additional funds are needed.

The Center For Spiritual Living brought in nearly $13,000 of the nearly $115,000 raised at the Walk to End Alzheimer's.

More than 700 walkers participated in the event that benefited the Alzheimer's Association's Coachella Valley Regional Service Center at on Saturday, March 3.

"We had a great turnout and are very close to our $115,000 goal," said Stephen Harmon, Coachella Valley Regional Director for the Alzheimer's Association California Southland Chapter. "Team and individuals can continue to donate to the Walk through June 30 by going online at www.alz.org/socal."

Janet Harris, co-owner of Sherman's Deli, raised the most money as an individual with $10,000. Harris, whose late father Sherman Harris and founder of, walked with her team in memory of her father.

There are nearly 11,000 individuals and families affected by Alzheimer's in the Coachella Valley.
