Cold Storm Expected to Impact Coachella Valley

A cold early season storm was moving east into the Coachella Valley on Wednesday morning and it was expected to bring the chance of showers and strong winds.

In Palm Desert, there was a 20 percent chance of showers after 11 a.m. with a predicted high for Oct. 9 in the mid 70s. West winds were expected 10 to 15 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

The storm system was expected to move out early Thursday, followed by dry and warmer weather Friday through Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

A high wind warning was in effect for the Coachella Valley until 3 a.m. Thursday Oct. 10. Sustained winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 65 mph were possible in the mountains and on some desert slopes, according to the Weather Service.
