Palm Springs Tram's Annual Snow Guessing Contest Begins Oct. 1

Are you ready to start thinking about winter?

Temps in the east end of the San Gorgonio Pass reached near 100 and higher Wednesday afternoon, but the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway's Annual Snow Guessing Contest starts in less than two weeks.

The contest begins Oct. 1 and it continues "until the first measurable inch of snow falls at the Mountain Station, elevation 8,516 feet," Tram spokeswoman Lena Smith said Wednesday in an announcement.

"The first ten guesses received with the correct date of snowfall will win four Tram admissions plus a special 50th Anniversary gift bag," Smith said. "Check outwww.pstramway50th.com for a gift bag preview. In the event there are more than ten guesses, the earliest postmarks will prevail. Remember postcards postmarked before October 1 will not be accepted."

Anyone wishing to enter can write down their guess on a postcard and mail it to:

Snow Guessing Contest, 1 Tram Way, Palm Springs, CA 92262.

"Postcards only will be accepted," Smith said. "People may enter as many times as they would like, one date per postcard."

Regular tram admission is $23.95 for adults and $16.95 for children ages 3-12. Discounted Twilight Tickets are available for purchase from 4 p.m. Ride 'n' Dine tickets are available from 4 p.m. and include Tram admission and dinner at Pines Café inside the Mountain Station. Reservations are not taken.
