Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument Visitor Center is supported by Friends of the Desert Mountains, a nonprofit organization. The parklands of the Monument Visitor Center includes views of spectacular desert scenery, wildlife, and recreation of the Coachella Valley. The mission of the Friends of the Desert Mountains is to help to preserve the desert lands and mountains of the Coachella Valley. The organization is made up of a concerned group of citizens who live in the desert area. At the Monument Vistor Center, spectators can not only enjoy the beautiful desert scenery, but also hikes and other events that take place throughout the year.
