Born and raised in the Detroit area, Janet moved to Washington, DC after earning her psychology degree at Michigan State, did psychological warfare/propaganda research and reporting during the Vietnam War era, was
gifted with a corporate transfer to Los Angeles where she earned her MBA at Pepperdine, and happily wound up in the Coachella Valley in 1989.

She is a founding member of Slow Food Desert Cities, Past President of Shelter From the Storm, Vice President of Media Mavens, Advisory Board Member of Pegasus Riding Academy for the Handicapped and Loving All Animals, and a member of Les Dames d’Escoffier and Palm Springs Women in Film and Television.

She is, or has been, publicist for many of the area’s top
restaurants, and has written food columns and restaurant reviews for Palm Springs Life, Alaska Airlines Magazine, California Homes, Season in the Sun, The Desert Woman, and ForbesTraveler.com. Her successful television show “ChowhoundTV,” The Television Show for People Who Love to Eat, aired on Public Television KCET Los Angeles and KCET Desert Cities 2006-2008. She is editor of the popular McDonald’s Western Coachella Valley Newsletter
(monthly circ. 200,000).

You are what you eat and everyone's trying so sell you something, so I keep the conversation going about food facts and fictions in the 21st Century.
