Dr. Norbert Weinberg, Neighbor

I have been active in community leadership and adult and youth education throughout my career. I owned and operated the Huntington Learning Center in Encino together with Ofra Weinberg for over a decade and a half. We had a broad range of students, from high achievers to struggling learners, but whoever went through our educational program moved well ahead of the crowd. We had students from LA's most prestigious schools and also from public schools identified by the State as failing to meet Federal standards; all received personal quality care. We prepared students for special exams, such as the SAT and ACT, as well as private school entrance exams; we also coached adults returning to higher education or needing to pass professional proficiency examinations. I have hands on experience in getting students to their test score goals.

I believe in the boundless power of learning. My research on contemporary history, published in my book, Courage of the Spirit, has strengthened my belief that we have in us the courage of spirit to overcome adversity and that constant learning is the priceless solution to overcoming obstacles.
