Stay Safe and Beat the Heat at a Cooling Center

With temperatures on the rise, Riverside County officials are spreading the word about cooling centers for those who are unable to afford to run their air conditioning or those who do not have any cooling system in their home.

The region will be under an excessive heat warning through much of the weekend.

In Murrieta and Temecula, temperatures were expected to hover around 100 through at least Sunday, according to the National Weather Service’s San Diego office.

Temperatures in Lake Elsinore could hit 109 degrees Saturday and 108 on Sunday.

Palm Desert and much of the lower desert will see familiar summer temperatures. Thursday will be the coolest day at 112 degrees. That is expected to rise to 120 on Saturday and Sunday.

To beat the heat, Riverside County officials advise residents to get out of their homes and head to centers where they can keep cool, or Cooling Centers. They recommend the following locations:
